Laguna Niguel Facial Fillers
The more we age, the more we lose fat beneath the skin. When this occurs, the facial muscles move and flex within a closer proximity to the surface of the skin which can increase the emergence of forehead lines, crow’s feet, and vertical lip lines. That loss of subcutaneous fat can also lead to a decrease in facial volume. Facial fillers are an effective method for repairing these defects.
What are facial fillers?
Facial fillers are temporary solutions for filling in wrinkles and other soft tissue imperfections on the face. They provide a smooth aesthetic and restore the volume of the skin. These fillers are typically made from collagen or Hyaluronic acid and they have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use as an injectable.
How long do facial fillers last?
As with any skincare treatment, the results may vary from one individual to the next. In most cases, facial fillers can last anywhere from six months to a year. Since they are made of natural components the body will absorb them over time and how slowly or quickly that occurs is different based on the individual.
What to expect after facial fillers?
You might experience some swelling and light bruising after you have received fillers. That is perfectly normal and should start to dissipate in just a couple of hours if not a day or two, though it could take up to a week to see the swelling completely disappear. The bruising can typically be reduced with Acetaminophen, ice packs, or a topical such as Arnica. You may also feel a little mild soreness at the injection site.
You will need to give your face some tender loving care after you have received treatment. Avoid touching the skin at or near the injection site. Stay away from environments that have extreme heat or humidity, such as saunas or hot tubs and we recommend that you keep out of sun until the swelling and bruising have both subsided.
Refrain from any treatments that involve physical massaging or manipulation of the face for at least two weeks. This will give the fillers time to set in place after injection.
What are the side effects of facial fillers?
Some of the more common side effects from facial fillers include bruising, swelling, and redness of the face. You may also experience some slight discomfort, itching, or soreness at the injection site. Some less common side effects include discoloration of the skin, visible bumps, and infection. These side effects typically fade after a week or two.
Extremely serious side effects might include allergic reaction to the filler, but this type of instance is rare.
How long to wait to get a facial after fillers?
If you are planning on getting a facial after your filler treatment, you should wait for at least a day or two before you have that work done. It is usually recommended that you refrain until any remaining swelling or bruising have subsided. Once those last remnants of the filler treatments have been reduced, you should look and feel brand new.
